About Us...

I know Peanut Pie Enterprises is an unconventional name for a wild land fire fighting company but there are two main reasons why I chose the name.

First, Peanut Pie was my buddy and best friend. She was a long haired Chihuahua who died on May 5th 2008. I love all dogs but Peanut and I were nearly inseparable. I didn’t take her on fires for obvious safety concerns. However, I wish I could have.

Secondly, I have always been critical of wildland firefighters who seem more obsessed with their own vanity than they are with the job at hand. I think it is mostly a guy problem (sometimes women). Many firefighters are more concerned with a pseudo representation of testosterone driven ability, especially if it results in a front page photo opportunity, then they are at really thinking a problem through. Therefore, I wanted my crew and myself to be humbled from the start by saddling them with the company name of Peanut Pie Enterprises. I believe an image such as the one created by this name can only be overcome by competence and proven ability rather than by attire and swagger. We don’t have to hide behind macho names like “fire eaters” nor do we dress in the trendiest fire line fashions. We just spend our time learning all we can about wildland fire fighting and being competent in the field.

So, that is the history and reason why this fire company is known as Peanut Pie Enterprises LLC.

The following photos ought to clarify my first reason.
